So many years ago I was with a group of friends and we were decided we wanted to rent a film. We wanted a comedy and I remembered there was this funny film I’d seen a trailer for with Nicholas Cage and lots of Elvis impersonators and a wedding.
One of our number went off to Blockbuster and returned with the film, and we settled down for a cheery night’s watching with… Leaving Las Vegas.
The Now Show must’ve been running for a very long time now? I still think of it as a relatively new show, but I haven’t listened to it for years.
Great show. You guys managed to fit a lot in, on top of Michael’s Spain recap. Here are some of my favorite moments in no particular order: Nicholas Cage’s sagging career, Thom & Mike fight over Spanish comic book porn, bashing: Editors, Grace Jones, the UK media for their Jade Goody coverage post-mortem.
BTW, an older coworker told me that in the 80s, Grace Jones would show up at a club she was scheduled to perform at, and wouldn’t get on stage if she didn’t like the way the audience looked.
That could quite well explain why her career has been as ’successful’ as it has…
