I used to feel simalarly to Michael regarding poetry. Then I realized that song lyrics are pretty much poetry put to music. Leonard Cohen was a poet before he decided to put his words to music.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Thom said the top three US sports were: Baseball, Football & Ice Hockey. Actually, Basketball is much more popular here than Hockey.
My (thom) bad! I’d forgotten about basketball, which is clearly a reflection of my general sporting knowledge!
For the sake of completeness, my feelings on basketball is that I find it rather ‘bitty’ - the action seems to bound from end to end too much for my liking. It always seems rather difficult for me to get my teeth into. To be fair, though, it’s probably the sport I’ve watched least out of the 4 US sports discussed…
